5 Tips for Directing the Flow of Energy in Your Live
Ever notice when you start focusing on something, you start to experience more things associated with it? Most people have experienced this phenomenon known as The Frequency Illusion or, the Baader-Meinhof phenomenon.
Even though there’s a scientific term for it and some might find the cognitive bias associated with it to be troubling, it’s actually a great way of showing how your focus – how you direct your focus – change the way you experience each moment.
For example, if you are waiting in high traffic, focusing on what you’re missing out is likely going to lead you to being irritated or edgy. Conversely, focusing on how grateful you are to have your vehicle and be able to view the activity around you, will change your mood dramatically.
What we focus on is where our energy goes. It’s what leads us to reaching our goals and overcoming any obstacles that come our way.
Your Focus Brought You Here
One thing to pay attention to is where your life is now. Is it where you want it to be? What more do you want to do, have, be, or achieve in your life? We only have so much time on this planet. Directing your energy has built what you have right now. Everything in your life came from the beliefs, thoughts, and energy you had before they came. If you want to change anything, change your focus.
Here are some steps to help you train your mind for razor sharp focus so you can achieve your dreams and goals.
1. Decide the Goal
If you don’t have a destination, you can’t create a map! Decide what you want to focus your energy on and commit to it.
2. Visualize and Meditate
Our minds don’t know the difference between imagination and reality. By allowing yourself to feel how it would feel once you accomplish it, you make it a reality in your mind which makes it easier to manifest.
3. Create A Plan
You might be inclined to include potential obstacles but where does this draw your focus to? Instead, focus on the steps you plan to take to reach your goal. Don’t worry too much about what may come as a challenge because – since your focus will be on achieving your goal – you’ll be ready!
4. Live Mindfully
We all get distracted – it’s natural. But when you become mindful and pay attention to where your focus is going, you can stop and step back to regain your focus. Let go of what is distracting you from your goal and shift your mind to start focusing on the next step to take.
5. Stay Aware
When you begin to focus on your dreams and goals, you will also begin to notice things, people, circumstances, and opportunities occurring in and around your life that are related to it (remember: Frequency Illusion). Be aware of the things that might pull your attention and focus away from your goal. If you need to take a break from a particular activity or individual, that is okay.
After all, it’s your life, goals, and dreams, right?
Like most things in life, mindful living and intentional focus don’t happen overnight. It takes practice and dedication, but the more you practice, the more intuitive it will become. When you are attuned to yourself, your energy will naturally begin to flow in all of the right directions. It just depends on where you focus your energy.
